Community Development Grants Programme delivers for Deakin

The Australian Government is delivering on its election commitments to the Deakin electorate through the newly established Community Development Grants Programme.

Federal Member for Deakin, Michael Sukkar MP, today announced that the Australian Government would provide up to $930,000 towards three projects in the electorate of Deakin.

Project 1 – Funding of $400,000 will assist Norwood Sporting Club to redevelop the Kevin Pratt Pavilion in Ringwood’s Mullum Mullum Reserve.

Project 2 – Funding of $500,000 will assist East Ringwood Football and Cricket Clubs with a new pavilion and change rooms at East Ringwood Reserve.

Project 3 – Funding of $30,000 will assist Mitcham Football Club to erect safety netting at Walker Park.

“I look forward to continuing my work with these local sporting clubs to implement important initiatives for our community and deliver genuine benefits to the people of Deakin,” Mr Sukkar said.

“Unlike the previous Labor Government, the Coalition delivers on its election commitments.”

The Australian Government is committed to providing long-term improvements in social and economic infrastructure for communities across Australia.

The Community Development Grants Programme will be administered by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, which will undertake a value-for-money assessment to ensure transparency in decisions about funding election commitments.

In order for an assessment to be undertaken funding recipients will be required to provide detailed project information, including project outcomes and benefits, planning and costs and delivery timeframes.
