Rotary Encourages Students to Speak Up

Michael Sukkar last night presented awards to three promising students who took out the first, second and third prizes in the Public Speaking Competition, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Croydon.

Eleven primary schools participated in the event, which was held over two nights at Melba College.

Michael congratulated all of the students for seizing the opportunity to practice speaking in front of an audience.

“It is fantastic to see students from so many local schools having a go and developing new skills,” he said.

“Public speaking can be daunting at first but it certainly becomes easier over time, and we heard some excellent presentations during the event.”

The winners of the Public Speaking Competition were:

1st Joshua Tilker – Ruskin Park Primary School
2nd Maddy Monument – Wonga Park Primary School
3rd Tiana Ingram – Kalinda Primary School

Michael also praised the Rotary Club of Croydon for organising the opportunity for local students.
