Deakin Pitches in on Clean Up Australia Day

Be a part of Clean Up Australia Day this Sunday.

I will be joining members of the Simpson Park/Somers Trail Advisory Group to clean up the Heatherdale Creek Parklands in Mitcham.

More than half a million Australians will band together to clean up and conserve the environment in their local communities across the country.

I encourage everyone in Deakin to participate and clean up our community.

Everyone is welcome to join our group of volunteers this Sunday, 2 March. If you wish to join me on Clean Up Australia Day, please call my office on 9874 1711 for further details.

In the coming weeks, the Coalition Government will be building on the theme of community conservation by calling for project ideas under our Green Army policy.

Like Clean Up Australia Day, the Green Army will make a real difference to the environment and local communities through projects such as restoring and protecting habitat, weeding, planting, cleaning up creeks and rivers, and restoring cultural heritage places.

The Government is delivering this as a key plank under the Cleaner Environment Plan.
