New scoreboard at Heatherdale Reserve
Heatherdale Reserve in Mitcham has received an upgrade with construction of the new scoreboard being completed late last week.
Michael Sukkar, Federal Member for Deakin, visited Heathmont Jets Junior Football Club on the weekend to watch the under 14s play and inspect the new scoreboard.
“We’re all here to enjoy the game and the scoreboard definitely helps keep you engaged, clearly displaying the progress of the game,” Mr Sukkar said. “I’m pleased to be able to support our young sportsmen and women through local sport clubs.
“The Heathmont Jets Junior Football Club has been looking at purchasing a scoreboard for the ground for some time so I’m glad that I could help to secure funding.”
The Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Programme provided $19,925 to assist with the purchase and installation of the scoreboard.
Brett Hansen, Treasurer of the Heathmont Jets Junior Football Club, expressed the club’s gratitude for the support.
“We’re ecstatic about the new scoreboard, and we couldn’t have done it without Michael’s support.” Mr Hansen said.
