Deakin 2016 Volunteer Grants Programme

Michael Sukkar, Federal Member for Deakin invites your local community group to apply for the Volunteer Grants 2016 programme.

The Australian Government is investing $10 million in Volunteer Grants to support, encourage and increase participation in volunteering in local communities.

“We want to help Deakin community organisations and groups support their volunteers by making their work easier, safer and more enjoyable,” Mr Sukkar said.

“The grants are extremely practical and I expect many organisations will benefit from them.”

“I am proud to be a part of a Government that supports the fantastic work of local community groups and volunteers.”

“I encourage our local groups to take this opportunity and apply for a grant.”

“The grants are fantastic way for local organisations to support their volunteers”

Grants between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help not-for-profit community organisations or groups support their volunteers through practical measures such as the purchase of small equipment items, reimbursement for volunteers’ fuel and transport costs, and contributions towards the cost of training and background screening checks. The grants provide a valuable opportunity for local organisations to support their volunteers.

The Volunteer Grants 2016 Application Pack is available from the Department of Social Services’ website at www.dss.gov.au/grants. Alternatively, you can contact the Volunteer Grants 2016 Hotline on 1800 020 283 or email grants@dss.gov.au.

Applications for Volunteer Grants 2016 close at 2pm AEDT on Tuesday, 20 December 2016.
