More space for North Ringwood Seniors

Michael Sukkar, Federal Member for Deakin, today visited the North Ringwood Senior Citizens Club to view the hall which was recently refurbished with the Turnbull Government’s assistance.

Mr Sukkar met with the Club President, Brian Hobbs, to inspect the hall and discuss how the space will be utilised by the community.

“The renovation has completely transformed the space and made it much more open and accessible for everyone,’’ he said.

“The new hall means the Club now has the space needed to accommodate its growing membership, catering for our ageing population here in Deakin.

“I cannot wait to attend a Club function and see everyone enjoying themselves in the new hall.”

North Ringwood Senior Citizens Club also has installed a new floor and kitchen fit-out.

$20,000 was provided through the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Grant Programme to help fund the renovations.

President Hobbs said the Club offered a number of different activities to members, including dancing, exercise and table tennis, to encourage older residents to keep active and healthy.

“With the rearranged hall giving us a larger floor area, more people can now take advantage of the space and get involved,” Mr Hobbs said.
