MEDIA RELEASE

PANICKED LABOR HIGHLIGHTS HOUSING FAILURES

Just weeks after the Government’s failed federal budget, the panicked announcement of a $2 billion payment to States and Territories today is an extraordinary admission that Labor’s housing agenda is in absolute tatters.

It’s clear that this announcement is a desperate attempt to appease the Greens in order to gain their support for the troubled Housing Australia Future Fund.

The hurried nature of the announcement means there are no details of which new housing projects will be supported by this funding.

There’s no detail on where these houses will be located, when they’ll be built or who will build them.

And sadly, this panicked announcement continues the budget theme of doing nothing for middle Australia.

It will do nothing for renters in the private market and nothing for Australians trying to purchase a home.

On top of twelve RBA rate increases and 1.5 million new migrants, it’s clear Labor have sadly given up on seriously addressing Australia’s housing crisis.
