MEDIA RELEASE

LABOR HAS NO PLAN TO HOUSE ‘BIG AUSTRALIA’

New data released today by the Housing Industry Association (HIA) has further highlighted that Labor has no plan or clue when it comes to addressing Australia’s housing crisis. The HIA data shows the number of dwellings commencing construction is set to slow even further.

Despite Labor increasing migration to 1.5 million migrants by 2027, forecasts for national new home builds and renovation activity are down, again showing that Labor has no plan on how to house this massive increase in population.

With new dwelling construction at its lowest levels in over 10 years, housing investment dropping even further and Australians struggling through a housing crisis, where does this Government think this enormous influx of people are going to live?

Labor have given up on young Australians ever owning a home, and the Government’s floundering Housing Australia Future Fund doesn’t even scratch the surface.

The Coalition will never accept a generation of Australians not having the opportunity to enter home ownership.

We are more committed to home ownership than ever, so while Labor continues to put its agenda for a ‘Big Australia’ ahead of the interests of young Australians, we will continue our work to help Australians own a home of their own.
